Traditional Music Library
In the vaulted cellar floor of the Traditional Music Cetner operates the Traditional Music Library. This unique specialized library focusing on traditional music offers publications in print, video, and audio formats, as well as supportive materials in the fields of folklore and pedagogy. It also houses an instrument park for course participants and a virtual sheet music collection for discovering new repertoire. The Traditional Music Library also holds archives of the Viljandi Folk Music Festival and seasonal events. All folk music enthusiasts are welcome to visit!
Audio and video materials
- CDs, audio cassettes, vinyl records, and DVDs released in Estonia and elsewhere in the world;
Concert recordings (Viljandi Folk Music Festival, World Music Festival MAA ja ILM, Folk Music Harvest Party, seasonal events).
Printed materials
- Specialized research, educational, and sheet music literature;
- Posters, brochures, other small printed materials;
- Information about musicians, ensembles, instrument makers, folk music events, and databases and websites related to the field.
Instrument park
We lend out instruments: bagpipe, small kannel, Estonian zither, accordion, violin, long flute, jew's harp.
